From the moment everyone arrived, it was clear that this was more than just a dress-up day. Staff proudly represented the schools that had been part of their lives, with uniforms from across Uganda creating a colourful display of memories and friendly rivalry. Adding an international touch to the celebration, our Filipino colleagues also joined in by wearing school uniforms from the Philippines, giving everyone an opportunity to appreciate the similarities and unique traditions of school life across different cultures.

The venue quickly filled with cheerful conversations as colleagues exchanged stories about their school days; reminiscing about strict teachers, unforgettable classmates, school traditions, and the experiences that continue to inspire who they are today. It was a reminder that while our backgrounds may differ, the lessons of friendship, resilience, teamwork, and perseverance are universal.

Highlights From The Day

A specially designed photo corner became one of the day's biggest highlights. Complete with the iconic metallic suitcase that has accompanied generations of Ugandan boarding school students and the ever-familiar bucket that brought back countless boarding school memories, the setup sparked smiles, laughter, and plenty of storytelling. Throughout the day, staff eagerly captured candid moments, with photographs taken not only by colleagues but also by our Managing Director, whose participation added to the relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.

The event offered an opportunity to step away from daily routines, strengthen relationships across teams, and celebrate the diversity that makes FELM such a vibrant workplace. Whether sharing childhood memories, posing for photos, or simply enjoying each other’s company, every interaction reinforced the importance of connection, collaboration, and belonging.

As the day came to a close, everyone left with more than just photographs—they carried renewed friendships, shared memories, and a deeper appreciation for the journeys that brought each of us to FELM. Our Back-to-School Team Building was a wonderful reminder that no matter where we come from, some of life’s best memories begin in a classroom, and the friendships we build along the way continue to shape us for years to come.
